Pathfinder Profiles: Questions for Pathfinder Individuals
Some questions that may be asked of Pathfinder individuals
include:
- Obtain background on individual (who, what, where, why,
when...etc.).
- Do you consider yourself a specialist or a generalist? How has
this approach assisted in your professional success?
- What is the most exciting aspect of the services you provide to
employers or clients?
- What was the most difficult professional challenge you have
faced?
- What is the most effective professional development tip you've
discovered for this type of work?
- What is the single skill or attribute you feel is most critical
to the work that you are doing?
- What type of capital investment or professional development
have you found it necessary to make in order to provide
added-value to your clients or employer?
- What do you expect the product life cycle to be of the services
or skills you are providing clients or employers?
- What professional development path do you expect to follow to
enhance your success within the firm or company? What core skill
set will you need in the future? Where will you obtain it?
- Do you find most of your client growth from referrals or other
marketing sources?
- How do your skills and/or training as a CPA assist you in
adding value to your employer?
- What is the most significant challenge you believe the
profession faces in the future?
- How do you use technology?
- How do you identify opportunities?
- What do clients or employers most value in you?
- Do you consider yourself a risk-taker? How has your approach to
risk affected your professional life?
- Do you think your academic background prepared you for the type
of work you are doing today?
- Do you think new entrants into the profession are bringing the
right skill sets?
- How would you rate your mastery of common desktop software
applications?
- What outside activities (professional or personal) do you
engage in?
- What do you find within the profession that might limit your
ability to provide these services? Do you think there is too much
regulation within the profession? If yes, how has it impacted
your ability to provide certain services?
- What does the CPA designation bring to this new area of
development/client service?
- What is the purpose of the profession?
- What is the one aspect or characteristic associated with the
CPA designation you would not change, even if it meant loss of
revenue or market opportunities?
- What are the two or three biggest challenges or opportunities
you think CPAs will face in the next five years?
