"What About ME?" is a question that is often heard as the CPA Vision Project develops. The purpose of the CPA Vision Project is to determine the core values, core competencies , and core services that CPAs will provide clients and employers in the year 2011. If the list of vision elements expands beyond 5-6, you are confusing core elements (which do not change), with operating practices, business strategies, and cultural norms (which should be open for change).
It is critical the profession identify the core values, competencies, and services, to know how to preserve the unique identity the profession deserves. Equally important to a meaningful vision and the subsequent planning process, is an understanding of how the vision can be applied to public practice, industry, government, and education, and future professional segments that may develop.
The CPA Vision Project is designed to help CPAs across the United States better understand the commonality of the core elements CPAs hold, and respect the differences of market segment delivery.
